Since my mother passed, I often feel her near me and there is one message that tends to come through over and over … “Enjoy your life… you are so blessed. Let go of your fears and your worries. I worried so much over things that were never going to happen. Don’t waste your life worrying. Enjoy it!”
This song is a conversation between my mother and me. The first part is me speaking, the second part (after the break) is my mother speaking back to me.
Lyrics:
Though you’re not here
I feel you near.
I see your face inside my mind.
Your twinkling eyes watch o’er me now.
I hear your voice leading me on…
“Enjoy your life.
Release your fears.
They were never yours.
They were always mine.
I set you free
my child to be
happier than I
knew how to be.”
I am working on a collection of songs that I call “My Life Opus” … basically they are songs I create as I reflect upon my life and process the past. It’s a form of musical therapy that helps me review my life, looking for the good, learning the lessons, and forgiving myself and others for choices along the way. This is one of them.
