Life Hacks: Why things have to get hard before they get better. Why adversity is a natural part of life and always works together for your good.

Why Things Get Hard Before They Get Better

Spread the love

Have you gone through something difficult? Have you ever wondered why things have to be so hard? Why is adversity a natural part of life?

I believe there is an eternal divinity deep within each of us that knows what lessons and life experiences we need to have in order to become our highest and best selves. I call this “the heart.” It’s the heart of who we are, not the emotional heart that sometimes leads us into foolish paths, but that eternal voice, the soul’s song.

Throughout my life I have endeavored to heed that inner guidance. It has led me to wonderful people, fantastic mentors, and rich experiences.

In 2011, God gave me a clear vision of a wonderful life that was possible for me. This vision guided my actions. I worked on becoming the woman capable of receiving that vision. In 2013, my heart led me to leave a codependent marriage and while I never regretted that decision, it set me on an incredibly bumpy road.

In the last 5 years I lost 2 homes, 2 husbands, a thriving business, and my mother. I even had to let my sons go live with my sister for a time so we all had somewhere to stay.

I’ll be honest, I became very cynical about following my heart. I felt like it let me down, that it betrayed me. I felt like the visions I’d had were nonsense and my inspiration couldn’t be trusted.

Life Hack: Why Things Have to Get Hard Before They Get Better. Dealing with adversity and challenges. As I stand here now on the other side of those difficult years and the vision has become a tangible reality, I understand what Jesus meant when he said, “you don’t put new wine into old bottles.” Destruction (and what we perceive as loss) is part of the creative process. In fact, I believe the bigger the transformation, the bigger the chaos/destruction.

The only way God could give me the vision was to reset my life. I needed to be a whole new vessel, stripped of pride, carrying no baggage, and willing to let go of my way of doing things.

My heart knew the way all along. It knew that you can’t take a closet, a house, a business, a life or a world to a higher level of order without some dismantling and chaos along the way.

In the end, it was worth every heartache, every sleepless night, every anxiety attack, every “loss” to be here in this place. (By the way, I discovered nothing is ever really lost. It is just dismantled and scattered into different places, people and things so that it can be restructured and reorganized into a higher form and a higher level of order.

Anytime you feel you’ve lost something or someone, start looking for the things you valued about that thing or person scattered in the world around you.

Step into observant gratitude for each place those valued elements show up. In time you will see that you have everything you need.. nothing is lost. Once you fully grasp this and are completely content with your world as it is, the next higher creative order can start falling into place.

Anytime you set a big goal to take your life to a higher level in any area, be aware that some dismantling, chaos and destruction of the old must occur to get you to that higher place.
