Creativity Challenge: Watercolor Markers

Spread the love

I’ve been playing around with these Artist’s Loft Watercolor Dual Tip markers on a small water color notepad. I really love the way the markers glide on. They’re easy to control and there’s something incredibly therapeutic and relaxing about drawing with them. I’ve been doodling different designs and learning how to control the pens.

Today I drew a butterfly on some flowers and then later I made a modern art design of triangles. There’s something about coloring those triangles that lifted the stress off my shoulders and cleared my mind. For someone like me who rarely can shut off her over-active mind, having something like this that actually quiets my mind is almost like meditation. It literally puts me in a quieted mind, meditative state.

When my 17-year-old son got home I asked him what he thought of my two creations from today and he said, “Childish.”  Yeah, I guess they do look childish. Nothing incredibly profound about them for the observer, but the results for me internally were profound and just what I needed.

Maybe sometimes the simplest things in life are the most effective.
